SciDataCon 2014 presentation

Post by Brian McMahon » Fri Nov 21, 2014 3:27 pm

John was invited to give a presentation at SciDataCon 2014 (this is the new incarnation of the CODATA biennial scientific conference). Because of time problems in obtaining a visa, I went instead and gave the presentation, slightly modified to include some of my specific interests. The theme of the conference was "Data Sharing and Integration for Global Sustainability", and the title for the presentation was "Sustainability of life and molecular crystallography 3D data". As well as providing this rather general conference audience with an overview of some of the practical applications of crystallography, we also took the opportunity to discuss crystallography's well-ordered approach to data management generally (facilitated by its excellent standards), and to explore the topic of raw data deposition as elaborated by the DDDWG.

We hope you enjoy the attached PDF version ofthe presentation
