Progress report of open science consultation of the global crystallography community

Post by JRH » Sat Aug 16, 2025 10:37 am

Dear Colleagues,
My progress report of the open science consultation of the global crystallography community that I initiated a year ago is available in the
IUCr Newsletter 2025 number 4:-
https://www.iucr.org/news/newsletter/et ... ult_page=2
This evolving "open science landscape" spans science publishing as well as raw data release for unpublished research.
A recent conference on open science organised by UNESCO and a wide range of initiatives are described including
by the International Science Council.
I continue to set these open science initiatives within our historical crystallography community experiences and which offer possible improvements in what we do.
The IUCr Congress and General Assembly in Calgary in August 2026 will present opportunities for open discussion.
Best wishes,
John
IUCr Representative to the UNESCO Open Science Working Groups
