The PaNOSC and ExPaNDS EU projects closing events: recordings

Post by JRH » Mon Mar 06, 2023 10:43 am

Dear Colleagues,
The recordings for the PaNOSC (the Photon and Neutron Open Science Cloud) and ExPaNDS (the European Open Science Cloud Photon and Neutron Data Services) EU projects’ closing events are now available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65OAs291u7k and https://expands.eu/2023/02/14/webinars- ... -openness/
The PaNOSC home page can be found here https://www.panosc.eu/
The ExPaNDS home page can be found here https://expands.eu/

At the PaNOSC event held in late November 2022 I spoke about Crystallographic Data. I was in a session entitled “User perspectives on FAIR data for PaN science” with two other speakers: Dr Claire Walsh of University College London who spoke on the “Human Organ Atlas” and Dr Hans Fangohr of the Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter who spoke on “Jupyter Notebooks for Data Analysis”. After the three talks the session included an extensive panel discussion with preset questions from PaNOSC to us as speakers. The discussion expanded into our answering a lot of different questions from the audience.

At the ExPaNDS event held in late February 2023 I spoke on Life Sciences Data with a focus on macromolecular crystallography but also briefly including biological small angle scattering, NMR, and electron microscopy. Each day another aspect was covered by a different guest speaker i.e. on the topics of: cultural heritage; tomography; industry; and then an overview. At each of these the leaders of the different ExPaNDS work packages also gave summaries of the project’s achievements.

Best wishes,
John
