John Helliwell has taken over the reins as IUCr Representative to CODATA, and will present a talk at the international CODATA Conference in Taipei at the end of October, in a session on "Data Mining: Advanced Data Management and Visualization". The title of the talk is "Extending Crystallographic Data Management to Include the Routine Archiving of Raw Experimental Data; a progress report". It affords an opportunity to make public our existence, remit and work so far, and in the context of an interdisciplinary and international forum on scientific data.
